Terms of Use

These terms are an agreement between you and Bluefox Software, a sole proprietorship in British Columbia, Canada ("we", "us"), for your use of Room on the web. By creating an account or using Room, you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use Room. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.

What Room is, and is not

Room estimates your TFSA, FHSA and RRSP contribution room from the rules the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) publishes and the dates and amounts you enter. It is not tax, legal or financial advice, it does not tell you what to buy or which account to use, and it is not affiliated with the CRA. Your CRA account and Notice of Assessment are the official record of your room: check them before you contribute, and ask a tax professional about your residency or anything unusual. An estimate is only as complete as what you enter, and the rules or limits can change; you are responsible for your contributions, and for any tax the CRA charges on an excess.

You are responsible for your numbers

You are solely and entirely responsible for the information you enter in Room, for keeping it complete and accurate, and for tracking your own contributions, withdrawals and contribution room. Room does arithmetic on what you enter and nothing more: it does not check your entries against your bank's or the CRA's records, it cannot know about anything you leave out, and an estimate built on missing or wrong information will be wrong. Before every contribution, check your room against your CRA account, your Notice of Assessment and your financial institutions' statements.

Every decision about what to contribute, withdraw or transfer, and when, is yours. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for any over-contribution, tax, penalty, interest or other cost that follows from using Room, from relying on an estimate it shows, or from information that is incomplete, out of date or wrong, whoever entered it. The limit of liability below applies to all of it.

Your account

• You must be at least 16, and old enough to agree to these terms where you live.
• Give accurate information, keep your password to yourself, and tell us at privacy@bluefox.software if you think someone else has used your account.
• An account is for one person. You are responsible for what happens under it.

Using Room

You agree not to:

• break the law, or help anyone else break it;
• infringe anyone's rights, or harass, threaten or deceive anyone;
• upload malware, or anything you have no right to share;
• try to get into accounts or systems that are not yours, or probe, scan or test our security without our written permission;
• overload or disrupt the service, or access it by automated means other than the ones we provide;
• resell, copy or reverse-engineer the service, except where the law allows it.

Your content

What you put in Room stays yours. You give us permission to store, copy and display it only as needed to run the service for you, for as long as it is in your account. You are responsible for it, and you confirm you have the right to put it there.

Assistants acting for you

You can let an AI assistant use Room on your behalf. What it does with the access you give it is treated as done by you. You can see and revoke that access at any time in the app.

The service

We may change, add or remove features. We will try to give notice before a change that takes away something you rely on. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms, or to protect other people or the service; where we can, we will tell you why first.

You can stop using Room and delete your account at any time in the app: Account → Delete account.

No warranty

Room is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no warranty that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a particular purpose, and you should keep your own copy of anything important.

Limit of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profits or business. Our total liability to you for any claim about Room is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for it in the 12 months before the claim, and CA$100. Nothing in these terms limits a right you have as a consumer that the law says cannot be limited.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. The courts of British Columbia decide any dispute about them, unless the law of the place where you live gives you the right to go to your local courts.

Changes to these terms

We will post any change here with a new date. If it matters to you, we will tell you by email before it takes effect. Using Room after that means you accept the new terms.
